First, I want to share with you my opinion that there is no need to study taxes at the very beginning. It’s something that you must deal with when the time comes.

I know so many examples of people who never even tried to start their Shopify business because they started with learning about taxes and trying to understand how to deal with them.

I think that’s wrong.

Start by creating a store, preparing a full setup, and advertising your product. When you find out what’s working for you, then obviously educate yourself about the taxes.

From my experience, there are two ways how to manage taxes for your dropshipping business:

The first one – hire an accountant. Ecommerce businesses have their own set of accounting rules and financial reporting standards. While many small business owners have an accountant, not all have one that fully understands eCommerce.

If you’re running or planning to launch an eCommerce business, finding an accountant who knows the ins and outs of all things eCommerce related is essential. Keep in mind that your specialist must be specialized in taxes and know the laws of your country or state.

The second one – if you do have not a very big store, less than 6 figures, you can try to manage everything by yourself. When you’re operating your own small business, you need to keep track of all expenses, so you can accurately report them on your taxes at the end of the year.

In this situation, accounting software is an excellent tool for keeping track of these expenses for you. These services can help you prepare for tax season by letting you see how much money you’ll have to pay in taxes and what types of deductions or credits you qualify for.

I can recommend at least 3 applications that could help you with your taxes:

The eCommerce space has come a long way in the past few years. In fact, the percentage of Americans who shop online has increased year by year, and now in 2022, we can't even imagine our life without online shopping.

With the rise of eCommerce comes an increase in companies that are selling through the internet. Dropshipping business owners who have an eCommerce business but don’t manage taxes are missing out on a crucial piece of the puzzle. As their dropshipping business grows, they need to know how to manage taxes by themselves or hire an accountant that understands eCommerce. It can help business owners of any type of company navigate the eCommerce world.
